How to Choose a Reliable PCB Manufacturer in China

Short answer: ask for a capability table, confirm which processes are in-house, test their quotation speed, verify certifications, and start with a prototype order before committing to volume. These five checks filter out most trading companies posing as factories within one email exchange.

1. Ask for the capability table first

A real factory publishes exact numbers: layer count, minimum line width and spacing, minimum hole size, board thickness range and surface finishes. If a supplier answers "we can do anything" instead of sending numbers, they are likely a broker. Our own table, for reference: 1–8 layers, 3 mil minimum line/space, 0.2 mm minimum hole, 0.2–3.0 mm thickness, with ENIG, HASL and OSP finishes in-house.

2. Confirm which processes are in-house

Every outsourced step adds lead time and quality risk. Ask directly: do you drill, image, etch and test in your own building? At NT PCB, all fabrication steps through final electrical test happen on our 3,500 m² floor in Foshan — nothing leaves the building until your boards are packed.

3. Time their quotation response

Quotation speed predicts production discipline. A factory with real engineering staff quotes a standard board within 12–24 hours. If pricing takes three days, production questions will take longer.

4. Verify certifications by number

ISO 9001 certificates carry a registration number you can check with the issuing body. UL listings are searchable in the UL Product iQ database. A trustworthy supplier hands over certificate numbers without hesitation.

5. Prototype before volume

A 72-hour quick-turn prototype order is the cheapest factory audit you can buy. Measure the boards, check the finish, and note how the supplier handles your engineering questions. If the prototype experience is good, volume orders rarely surprise you.
